This permit allows FDHs to live and work in Malaysian households and exit and re-enter the country during its validity.

1. Visa with Reference (VDR) / Calling Visa 1.1 The Visa with Reference (VDR), also known as a Calling Visa, is the first visa required for a domestic helper to enter Malaysia for employment purposes. This is typically arranged by the employer or a licensed agency.

To qualify for the VDR:

• The helper must pass a medical examination at a Malaysian-approved clinic in her home country.
